Antique Cameo Brooch, Victorian, Silver, Micro Mosaic

Description

A lovely antique silver cameo brooch made in the Victorian era, using a technique called micro mosaic. This is a technique which uses extremely small mosaic compartments called tesserae to craft detailed and complex patterns. This particular brooch is beautifully detailed around the central cameo, making it stand out and the colours of the cameo shell and the turquoise colour of the mosaic complement each other so well.

MATERIALS: Silver, cameo shell, micro mosaic

DIMENSIONS: Length is approx 30mm, width is approx 25mm. Cameo is 17mm x 14mm

ERA/HALLMARK: Victorian. Tested for silver.

CONDITION: General wear on the back, small bit of mosaic is missing on the middle left side, which I have reflected in the price.
