This Victorian citrine brooch dates to the late 1800s and brings together rich 15ct gold, warm colour, and beautifully detailed metalwork. It works perfectly as a lapel brooch, a scatter pin, or as a focal point on a ribbon or chain thanks to its slim, elegant proportions and classic elongated shape. At the centre sits an oval faceted citrine in a deep honey tone, set in a milgrain-edged bezel that adds texture and depth. Small natural seed pearls sit to each side, giving the brooch a soft contrast and a traditional Victorian touch.

Design & craftsmanship

The brooch shows all the hallmarks of late-Victorian design. It uses shaped gold plates on each end, complete with raised bead details, engraved motifs, and tiny gold orbs that create a bold silhouette. The citrine sits securely in a closed-back setting, while the pearls rest in small gold frames that add structure and balance. A safety chain remains attached, which adds practicality and also supports the original feel. The back carries an engraved dedication reading “Grace Bisset,” which strengthens the personal history and gives the piece extra charm. The C-clasp and pin sit neatly behind the central stone.

Why we love this brooch

We love this Victorian citrine brooch because it brings together so many Victorian details at once; citrine, pearls, engraved gold, and strong geometric shaping. The citrine has wonderful colour, and the seed pearls give a gentle contrast that softens the bold metalwork. It feels special because the craftsmanship stands out immediately, yet the brooch still wears easily and sits neatly on fabric. The engraved dedication also adds a human connection, which gives the piece a sense of real history.

Styling

This brooch looks beautiful on a structured jacket, a lightweight knit, or a crisp white shirt. It also pairs well with other Victorian gold pieces, especially those with citrine, seed pearls, or granulated detailing. You can even style it on a velvet ribbon and wear it as a pendant for an alternative look.
