Why we love this necklace

Whether you’re dressing for an evening event or layering it over a crisp white shirt, this necklace brings refined beauty and subtle drama.

Styling & versatility

Because of its versatile tone and length, this Edwardian amethyst Riviere necklace transitions easily from day to night. You can wear it alone for a classic, sophisticated look, or layer it with shorter chains for a more contemporary feel. Its fluid design also makes it comfortable to wear, even for long hours. Pair it with an Edwardian pendant or delicate drop earrings to complete the look.

Historical note

The Rivière necklace originated in the Georgian era but remained popular well into the Edwardian period. During this time, advances in stone-cutting and silverwork allowed jewellers to create lighter, more flexible settings that maximised sparkle. Amethyst, long associated with calmness and clarity, became a favourite for its royal hue and spiritual symbolism. This piece captures that enduring Edwardian elegance perfectly.
