An elegant Edwardian amethyst and seed pearl brooch pendant, crafted in 9ct yellow gold and dating to the early 20th century. The piece features a circular openwork design with a vibrant round-cut amethyst at the centre. Around it, natural seed pearls add soft contrast and period character. As a result, the overall look feels light, balanced and refined. Fine scrollwork allows light to pass through the design, which enhances its delicacy.
The brooch includes a pin fitting to the reverse and a concealed bale. Therefore, you can wear it either as a brooch or as a pendant. The warm tone of the gold complements both the rich purple amethyst and the gentle lustre of the pearls.
Design & Craftsmanship
The maker formed the Edwardian amethyst brooch pendant as an open circular frame with symmetrical scroll motifs radiating from the centre. At the heart sits a round amethyst, which the maker securely claw set to show strong colour and clarity. Meanwhile, seed pearls sit individually within leaf-shaped and bead-accented settings. These details add texture without overwhelming the design. Because of the openwork construction, the brooch remains visually light while still showcasing skilled Edwardian goldsmithing.
Why we love this piece
This is a well-made and practical Edwardian jewel. It offers two wearing options, which adds versatility. In addition, the materials suit the period perfectly. The design feels decorative yet restrained, making it easy to wear today.
Styling Ideas
Wear this Edwardian amethyst piece as a pendant on a fine gold chain for a subtle antique look. Alternatively, style it as a brooch on a lapel, scarf or knitwear. It pairs well with other Edwardian pieces. However, it also stands out beautifully against simple, modern clothing.
