Description
This 1940s ruby and diamond cluster ring is crafted in 18ct yellow and white gold and set with an oval cut ruby framed by round cut diamonds. The ruby and diamond cluster ring has a classic vintage presence, while the yellow gold shank and white gold setting create crisp contrast across the face of the piece. Because ruby is the birthstone for July, it also makes a thoughtful vintage gift. It works beautifully as a statement ring, ruby anniversary ring or alternative engagement ring.
Design & Craftsmanship
The ring centres on an oval ruby in a white gold setting, surrounded by a border of round diamonds that form a bright cluster. Meanwhile, the white gold head lifts the stones neatly above the finger, which helps light reach the diamonds and gives the ring strong sparkle from every angle. The yellow gold shank adds warmth and balances the cooler white setting well. In profile, the pierced gallery and tapered shoulders give the ring a refined 1940s look, while the split shoulder detail adds softness and structure.
Why We Love This Ring
We love this antique cluster ring because it has the scale and presence of a classic cluster, yet it still feels easy to wear. The deep red ruby gives the design richness, while the diamonds keep it lively and bright. At the same time, the mixed yellow and white gold construction makes it especially versatile. It feels formal enough for important occasions, however it is also practical for regular wear. That balance gives the ring lasting appeal.
How to Style
This 1940s ruby and diamond cluster ring will suit someone who loves antique jewellery with strong contrast and clear period character. It works well as a standalone piece, because the cluster design already gives the hand plenty of focus. Similarly, it suits buyers looking for a ruby engagement ring, a July birthday gift or a distinctive dress ring with classic proportions. The combination of ruby, diamond and two-tone gold means it pairs easily with both yellow and white gold jewellery.
